As Spring approaches, I am looking out at our backyard and observing the bare limbs of several trees. If someone were to look at them for the first time right now, they might wonder if they were sick or even alive. But I know that in just a few weeks new leaves will start to grow, and, soon enough, the trees will appear to have been reborn with new life. I cannot help but be reminded of our own rebirth in Christ.
In Romans 6:3-4, the Apostle Paul reminds his readers: Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. If you are in Christ then you have been spiritually baptized into His death, burial, and resurrection, and this is so we “might walk in newness of life.” So, as you begin to see leaves filling the trees, take time to praise the Lord for the new life you have in Christ!
Blessings,
Pastor Zach
