“April showers bring May flowers,” or as my wife, Mae, has been known to say, “April showers bring Me flowers!” As the weather gets warmer and we have more rainy days, first, let’s remember that rain is an example of God’s grace and loving sustaining of His creation. In Matthew 5:43- 45, Jesus tells His audience:
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
But, also, be sure to remember that in order to stand firm in the rainy seasons of life, we must build our lives on the solid foundation of Christ and His Word. In a famous parable in Matthew 7:24-27, Jesus explains:
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. 26 Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.”
So, as rain falls in your life, whether literally or figuratively, remember to stay firmly anchored in the Lord and His teachings. Blessings!
